Event Summary

Chingthur Foundation held its first Internship Completion Programme at the Agroforestry Training Centre in Karagaon. The event marked the completion of a three-month internship undertaken from June to August 2026 by North East Christian University students Kevizhapu Terhuja and Keneisebei Meyase.

The students received field-based training in sustainable agriculture, agroforestry and appropriate technology under Mr. Lungaithui Malangmei, Programme Manager of Chingthur Foundation. His guidance drew on training received through the Asian Rural Institute in Japan and ECHO Asia in Thailand.

In his welcome, Mr. Dingshungngamang Kamei, Executive Director of Chingthur Foundation, thanked North East Christian University for choosing the Foundation as a field-learning partner. He emphasised the value of the partnership and expressed hope for continued collaboration between the two institutions to equip committed young learners and contribute meaningfully to rural communities. Mr. Lungaithui Malangmei presented the internship report, and the interns reflected on their experience. Mr. Pesha Khiamniungan encouraged them to remain humble, continue learning and apply their knowledge in service to others.

Mr. Vizeto Kin, Registrar of North East Christian University, commended the interns for their perseverance and encouraged them to put their learning into practice. He also acknowledged the wider opportunities associated with ECHO Asia and the Asian Rural Institute. The interns then received their completion certificates. Following a vote of thanks by Mr. Liang Khiamniungan and a prayer and benediction led by Mr. Pesha Khiamniungan, the programme concluded with a group photograph and lunch.

Key Outcomes

The first completed internship strengthened the partnership between Chingthur Foundation and North East Christian University. It also affirmed the Foundation’s role in practical learning for sustainable livelihoods and responsible care of land and natural resources.
